Since their formation in 2014, Orlando, Florida based duo Venice has become one of the fastest growing acts in dance music. After gaining support from top DJs around the world from popular original productions, collaborations, and remixes, Venice made their Miami Music Week debut in 2015 with some of the most popular talent in the industry, thus solidifying their place in dance music. In the past, Venice has performed alongside Dash Berlin, Skrillex, Bassnectar, 3LAU, Fedde Le Grand, Galantis, and many more! After their EDC Orlando set at the Neon Garden stage, I had the privilege of speaking with Venice about the future of dance music, their productions, and more.

What was the experience like playing here at EDC Orlando?

EDC Orlando was a ton of fun!!! We were both raised here in Orlando, FL so being able to come back home and play for our home crowd is always a great feeling. We got to test out some new tracks and meet a lot of artists that are coming up in the scene.

Who are your musical influences?

Our musical influences are all across the board, our music is influenced by a lot of the trance guys like BT, Andy Moor, Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Somna and Ilan Bluestone. We also enjoy some of the more hard electro influenced progressive and trance, our productions draw a lot from some of these styles. Of course, the big room stuff is always a lot of fun for the right occasion.

What direction do you think dance music will go towards in terms of a popular genre in 2016?

A lot of the EDM fans are starting to find and enjoy more of the sub-genres of dance music, such as trance, future and trap . This is an exciting time for dance music because of all the creativity being brought into the scene. The fans are embracing it and it is pushing the scene into a great direction. It is going to be interesting to see what unfolds in 2016. For us, as producers we are embracing the opportunity to showcase what we can do as musicians.

What would you say is the highlight of your career so far?

2015 has been really good to us. We signed a few tracks to AVA Recordings/Black Hole Recordings with Andy Moor along with releasing a music video to our last single “Always Here” with Anki. We have also had the opportunity to play a few festivals as of late and the crowds are really embracing our sounds. We are looking forward to everything to come in 2016.

If you didn’t pursue a career in music, what career would you be in now?

Good question. Honestly cannot really imagine a career not involved with music. Both of our lives revolve around music and it will always be our passion.

What artist would you like to collab with at some point in the future?

There are so many awesome artists in the scene right now. One of our career goals is to collaborate with BT and Andy Moor. We grew up listening to a lot of the trance stuff in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. We really look up to those guys a lot. It would also be cool to do some work with some mainstream vocalists and merge the sounds together.

What is your favorite record right now?

Faithless – We Come One (Armin Van Buuren remix). It is such an anthem and great remix to a classic song!

What can fans expect from Venice in 2016?

2016 is going to be insane! We have been working really hard in the studio to bring you guys a fresh unique sound. We have a ton of content coming up and some releases early in the year that you guys are going to really enjoy.
