If your plans to attend EDC Orlando this year are secured, your next step is figuring out the artists you want to see on the lineup. Seeing every name on the list is impossible and there will be conflicts once you take a good look at the lineup schedule they give to you at the gate figuring out which stage you should be at. While it’s fun to see the artists you’re normally accustomed to seeing at festivals or going to a specific stage because it plays your favorite genre (Example: Neon Garden is trance and techno/house), support the new artists that play early in the day if you’re there or look for some veterans that you’re not accustomed to seeing. Here are five must-see performances this year at EDC Orlando:
1. Shake ‘N Bass (Big Makk Tribute Set)
Big Makk was considered a big talent in the Florida dance community and made quite a name for himself, but a horrific car crash that killed him and three others prevented him from playing EDC Orlando. A tribute set in his name will be honored and if you had no plans on originally seeing him, pay your respects to a well respected person in the scene.
Does Axwell need an introduction? One of the biggest names in dance music is coming to Orlando and if you saw his recent solo set at Ultra Singapore, you should be excited for him. It’s not his best, but he can definitely put on a show. Do NOT miss out!
3. Alison Wonderland
Since her first U.S show at Coachella in 2015, Alison Wonderland has become a very popular artist and should definitely be on your bucket list of artists to see live. Aside from Coachella, she’s played EDC Las Vegas, New York, Orlando, Lollapalooza, and had a sold out Australian Warehouse tour in 2016. The sky is the limit for Alison and she has no plans to stop anytime soon.
4. Dreamstate Presents
It was difficult to pick one artist for the Dreamstate Presents trance curated stage at Neon Garden, so if trance is your thing, you’ll most likely camp out at this stage all day on Friday. Above and Beyond will also be Kinetic Field on the same day so there will be some conflict scheduling and you may have to miss one or two artists at the neon garden stage to get a good view of A&B. Personally, Ferry Corsten is my favorite on the Dreamstate lineup, but if you’re looking to get into trance, do your research on the lineup artists and others as well and see who you like the best.
5. Mark Knight B2B Chus & Ceballos
The owner of Toolroom Records Mark Knight and two talented artists in the techno/house scene are teaming up for a special B2B set. Every year Mark Knight continues to set new standards making him a well-respected artist in the industry. As for Chus & Ceballos, they’ve earned respect worldwide for their work in the underground scene. They continue to evolve as artists making them global superstars which allows them to play from small, intimate clubs to some of the largest festivals in the world.
