Meet Josh Parkinson, a man with talent in two industries: music and modelling. His modelling career, under Select Model Management, has landed him gigs with multiple magazines, including Vogue and GQ. After establishing a foothold in the media spotlight, and with a degree of fame, he set his mind to his true passion: making and playing music.
His music style has brought him into the wide realms of Tech and Deep House, often mixing the two together. A specialty of his which he often does, is to drop vocals over a thick bass line, which in Parkinson’s opinion lifts the vibe and keeps things different. His first project, a track titled ‘Suspicious’ (available for free download), displays this quality of his, mixing vocals under a bass line that can really pull you in under its groove. His latest track, titled ‘No More’ has been featured on the BBC radio and has been receiving plays on 1xtra. As a result, he has been signed under UK super label, Ministry of Sound, an opportunity he cannot wait to experience and explore.
Though he’s only been producing music for four years, he has already achieved more success in the industry than most. Having residencies all over London’s night life scene, Parkinson can also be found during major day parties such as Love Brunch and Love Affair. Festivals have also been a hit for the DJ, performing at multiple, including UK festivals Motion, Fabric, Secret Garden Party and Isle of Wight. He has also took part in several Alp tours, which have turned out to be memorable experiences for him.
With experiences in both the music and modelling industries, Josh Parkinson is truly a gifted and blessed man. To all those who dream of “making it big” or simply following their passions into music, he suggests to keep it simple. “At the end of the day were doing it because we love it. Not because someone is forcing us. Appreciate it and have fun. […] be patient yet persistent. Some things can take aaaages which can dishearten you, but you got to just keep on pushing.” By observing other people in the industry, he has learned not to take himself too seriously, and to stick to his character.
Josh Parkinson has proven he has what it takes to be a player in the game of music. A truly humble producer, keep an eye and an ear out for this man’s future hits, no doubt to be featured on the BBC Radio, and on his soundcloud.
