The dance music scene used to be a different experience. We know this from all the nostalgic dancers and ravers who profess how amazing those times were. Part of the reason that dynamic was so special back then, was the absolute disconnect from reality and focus solely on the energy and journey of the musoc. In our current world, we can struggle to reach this state of mind with our dependence on smart phones. Just look at any crowd in a festival or club and take note of all the cell phones out, filming, snapchatting and texting during the event. This undoubtedly causes a negative impact on the experience (maybe not for all, but for some). Lane 8 is one of many who realize this, and as he embarks on his new tour he’s bringing a new rule to his shows.
No. Cell. Phones.
The new tour, This Never Happened is set to kick off in 18 North American cities from September to December.
“At This Never Happened, we invite you into a space where the only thing that matters are the people in that room, the music and the magic that happens when those things interact. An event where the dancefloor will be a phone and photo-free space.
We get that this might be hard in our smartphone obsessed times, so we will be politely policing it on the night, but it will be worth it – I promise.
This experience we share together may, by 2016 standards, have never happened. But those who dare will always know – something special did happen here.
I look forward to building this concept with you.
Daniel (Lane 8)”
Lane 8 is definitely one of the hottest and most unique acts. He blends elements from House and Techno, and puts an uplifting, relaxed chill spin on it. This is one experience you are not going to want to miss.
