The latest news all over the EDM world is the Mad Decent Boat Party. The massive party takes place on the ocean liner Norwegian Pearl, and charts a course to a private location in Mexico, with partying and debauchery taking place the entire time. During the first night however, the cruise lost a passenger and was forced to stop 22 miles off the coast of Cuba. The passenger, 24 year old Kaylyn Rose Sommer from Charleston, South Carolina went overboard. It is unclear whether this was an accident or intentional, however the entire ship was distraught and many rescue ships were sent out. The party was rumored to have proceeded for a short while until the U.S. Coast Guard took over, terminating the event.
The Norwegian Pearl released the following statement:
“Thursday, November 12 during the chartered cruise on Norwegian Pearl, a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel. The ship’s crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities. The search for the guest is ongoing. Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time.”
This is a truly tragic event and through the thousands of tweets taking place it is evident that all their thoughts and prayers go out to Kaylyn, and for the search to find her alive to be successful.
