Amsterdam’s City Council announced sound restrictions for festivals and other large scale outdoor events. The new sound policy states sound must be kept under 85 decibels.
“Organizers are now mainly concerned with how the sound sounds on the field.” A spokesman for the City Council said. “According to the new rules, they will also have to focus on the question of the effect of noise on the environment, and how to minimize the inconvenience.”
However, some exceptions will be made to the under 85 decibels rule, as it does not apply to 20 popular places around the city. These have been classified in categories to determine different sound restrictions. Three sound-intensive days will also be allowed throughout the year.
