Five years ago, Simon Alex, out of New York City, was producing 30-second jingles on Apple’s ‘Garage Band’ program. His parents, realizing the potential talent he had, went ahead and bought him the software he needed to begin learning how to produce electronic music. The product of his practice and dedication has already began to flourish, and he credits being raised in the city, a place where all art forms are praised and practised, to his influence in music and art.
In case you aren’t too familiar with Simon Alex, Steve Angello recently held a ‘Children Of The Wild’ remix contest, and guess who won it. That’s right. His bangin’ Electro/Progressive remix of the magical vocal track gives the melody some new found energy, and has just enough of the heavy stuff to make it a great tune.
The genres he aims at the most are indeed within Electro House and Progressive, however as a young producer, he dabbles in all kinds of genres from Dubstep to Moombahton, but is really interested in adding some melodic orchestral stuff into his productions in the near future.
“Most of the stuff I release is groovy while still having some main stage appeal. It’s techy without being too techy, energetic without being too obnoxious or melodic but still aggressive”
Though still fresh into the industry, Simon Alex knows that his hard work and dedication will pay off, in some ways it already has. What he understands is balance, between his education and dedication to music production. Hard work trumps all.
The future is looking bright for him. The remix contest has helped put him on the map, and the coming years will test his mettle, a challenge he looks forward to overcoming. Several solo productions as well as collabs with names like Tom Tyger and Ansolo are in the works and set to be released in the next few months. By 2016, Simon Alex will be full throttle, and we can’t wait to see what he’s got.
